The BMW iX1, a recent addition to BMW's lineup, showcases a fresh design language. It boldly features the signature kidney grille, dominating the front and imparting a unique character. The 3D-shaped front bumper incorporates a substantial intake to efficiently cool the battery pack. The blue paint choice aligns perfectly with its eco-friendly positioning while staying true to BMW's classic color schemes.

In terms of dimensions, the iX1 measures 4,616 mm in length, 1,845 mm in width, 1,641 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,802 mm. The well-proportioned design emphasizes corner-to-corner balance, ensuring spacious interiors and excellent handling. Silver accents on the sides cleverly conceal the thicker electric vehicle floor, maintaining an overall streamlined appearance. The clean and modern side profile incorporates tasteful chrome elements, making it especially appealing to younger consumers.

The rear design exudes a sculpted, three-dimensional look with modern symmetry. The L-shaped taillights create a sharp visual impression. A silver skid plate adorns the rear bumper, and as is customary for electric vehicles, it lacks visible exhaust pipes.


Inside, the iX1 offers an interior that embodies a stylish M-themed atmosphere with black finishes complemented by accents like black and red. The design aesthetic extends to the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and the central 10.7-inch touchscreen, delivering a tech-forward visual experience. The shape and style of the screens harmonize with the overall design of the center console. Standard features include the latest ID9 system, Harman Kardon sound system, and a digital key. The Level 2 driver assistance system is included, offering features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and active braking as standard, while more advanced functionalities are optional.

The M Sport seats exude a sporty feel, complete with blue stitching and premium leather inserts. These seats offer comprehensive support for shoulders, lumbar, and hips. They come with various power adjustments and heating/ventilation functions.

Thanks to its extended wheelbase, the iX1's rear legroom is impressive, surpassing even that of the X3. Passengers can expect excellent comfort. As an entry-level luxury electric vehicle designed for family use, it excels in providing ample space for all passengers.

The flexible rear cargo area boasts 490 to 1,600 liters of volume, and the rear seats can be folded in a 4/2/4 configuration. Both the depth and vertical height are remarkable, making it a practical choice for storage needs.


The iX1 available in the market features dual electric motors, delivering a combined total power output of 230 kW and a peak torque of 494 Nm. It is equipped with a 66.45-degree lithium-ion battery, offering an estimated range of 450 km. A single-motor, long-range version is expected to launch later, potentially extending the range to around 560 km. However, even with this improvement, the iX1's range still falls short of some competing domestic EVs.


Considering its relatively modest range and a lack of advanced features like an 800V electrical architecture, the BMW iX1 may give some potential buyers pause.
